WHAT IS COLON THERAPY?
Colon Therapy is the gentle rinsing of the colon with warm water, to remove encrusted fecal matter, toxins, gas and mucus. This allows vital nutrients to be absorbed more easily. Colon Therapy can also help re-hydrate, retone & reshape the colon.
Colon Therapy involves the safe, gentle infusion of purified water into the colon via the rectum. No chemicals or drugs are involved and the entire therapy is both relaxing and effective. A healthy well-functioning bowel is essential for the maintenance of optimal health. This vital organ remains the most neglected in the human body.
WHY IS COLON THERAPY BENEFICIAL?
Colon Therapy is especially useful in cancer patients because it improves circulatory functions, stimulates the immune system, removes toxic waste, stimulates appetite, eliminates headaches, and boosts energy.
When we eat a nutritionally deficient diet (the American diet), the unused waste stagnates in the colon and the body absorbs these toxins. The organs in the body responsible for purification, such as the liver, kidneys, lungs, and skin, work overtime trying to purge the waste. This can result in a variety of illnesses.
Removing carcinogenic toxins from the body and boosting the immune system are paramount during illness, especially cancer. With cancer, large tumors can break and cause necrotic areas, formed of dead tissue. Since the body expels these toxic byproducts through the colon, it’s vital to keep the colon flushed out with a cleansing Colon Therapy.
If a patient is weakened from the disease, frequent Colon Therapies help relieve the colon’s toxic burden during the patient’s healing process. But remember, Colon Therapy is not a cure, nor should it be the only treatment for cancer. With a disease as serious as cancer, concurrent care under a physician is advisable.
WHAT TO EXPECT DURING A COLON THERAPY?
You will find that Colon Therapy at Utopia Cancer Center is gentle, clean and relaxing. You will be in a private room with a trained professional who fully understands the sensitivity of the process, and is fully committed to your well-being throughout the procedure. Utopia uses a closed-tube system that allows the water flow to be adjusted for each inflow or “fill”. Water normally enters the colon very slowly, or potentially less than 1/2 psi (pounds per square inch). The speculum is the instrument that is inserted into the anus and allows water to flow in and out of the colon. The speculum is approximately 3/4″ in diameter. It is lubricated and gently inserted 2-3 inches in through the anal canal. The water line connects to the incoming water line on the equipment, and the waste line attaches to an illuminated glass viewing tube that allows for observation of what is eliminated. The waste goes out the speculum into the disposable waste line, and then empties directly into the sewer system after passing through the view tube.
Your therapy session, which lasts approximately 45 minutes, is optimized through the expert, light touch of your Utopia Cancer Center therapist. A comprehensive array of massage and touch disciplines, including reflexology, acupressure, polarity and light abdominal massage are used in order to help your colon release as much waste and toxins as possible during your session.
IS COLON THERAPY SAFE?
Colon Therapy is very safe when performed by a qualified therapist. We only use FDA approved medical devices for the procedure and all of the equipment used is sterilized or disposable and the water goes through an advanced filtration process prior to entering the colon. Our therapists are trained and certified by the State of Florida and meet the highest professional and ethical standards. You are in very safe hands.
HOW WILL I FEEL DURING AND AFTER MY COLON THERAPY?
Many patients are surprised at the fact that there is no odor in this process, and at how gentle the procedure really is. You may have occasional moments of discomfort should the colon contract, but such episodes occur briefly.
Following the therapy, patients report feeling clean and clear “from the inside out”. You may feel chilled or lightheaded for a few moments after Colon Therapy yet most people continue with their daily routines without incident. Some people may have several bowel movements in the hours following the procedure, but those come with no urgency or discomfort.
